I’ve got the May I Have a Word pot cooking this week. I’ve been savoring a word that has more layers than a filo crust. It’s one that can change our life’s direction in a second. It has the power to inform, delight, surprise, and draw us closer to the Divine. Let’s lift the lid now and enjoy some time with the latest word I’m bringing to our table.
I believe this word opens doors like no other. Its meaning streams in many different directions. For this discourse, I’m focused on when we receive a blessing as a gift from heaven or another.
Words imbued with power exist in all languages, but nothing awakens an immediate reaction of joy and gratitude from me like an unexpected blessing. They have the ability to change my life—to excite and ignite emotions.
When a blessing comes, I always pause to give thanks. I feel expressing gratitude seeds more blessings to find me. Perhaps it’s the old cause-and-effect theory at play. Regardless, my appreciation is sincere and needs to be stated first before fully experiencing and understanding the gift.
Sometimes, I feel the blessing’s immediate effect, and my happiness and surprise mirror this. Often, the gift unfolds, like a lotus blossoming, to reveal its full beauty over time. I admit to feeling quite partial to this type of blessing. Why? They stir me into awe at the Divine’s ability to deliver the unexpected—the impossible into my life.
Blessings are multi-purposed. Yes, it’s true. Blessings aren’t singular, for their energy ripples continue into infinity. Ultimately, they’re meant to draw us closer to God—the Divine. And we come to see that relationship deepens with each blessing bestowed.
We know and trust that the gifts came from somewhere outside ourselves. The orchestration of the blessing serves as proof time and again. In the world we live in, blessings remind us that a higher power cares and wants our lives to be enriched and enlivened. I will keep sowing my gratitude seeds for each blessing that finds me.
May you be blessed this day!
Thanks always for joining me at the Potluck With Tonya Penrose table.
Blessings ripple like drops falling in water. The waves, the ripples, go out in every direction and touch every life. As always, your posts make me think. Thank you, Tonya, and may many blessings come your way.
More beautiful and powerful words. You are such a blessing to so many.
Blessings do come from places expected and unexpected. And often, they are in disguise, whereas some are immediately recognizable. It is so important to treasure each one. Nothing is a given. Thank you for another wise blog.
